Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta - Chamarajanagar,Karnataka

There is a favourite dialogue from Imtiaz's movie Highway..
""Jahan se tum mujhe laye ho, main wahan wapas nahin jana chahti, jahan bhi le jaa rahe ho wahan pahuchna nahin chahti, par ye raasta, ye bahut accha hai, main chahti hoon ke ye raasta kabhi khatm na ho.""
Every time we go for a road trip here in Kerala,I remember those lines for sure..

So coming to the post, the next day of Pongal we visited Gopalaswamy temple which is on Gopalaswamy betta in Karnataka..Yeah Karnataka, when you are staying in a forest area which adjoins three states, you've got a rare opportunity to visit so many places nearby..Indeed you need not plan anything prior to your trip..All you got to do is just finish your food, pack some snacks, just sit in your car and go for a drive..This is how we enjoyed few road trips whenever possible, mostly in the weekends..Especially the drive through Mysore road from Bathery is an experience beyond words.. Though monsoons are the best season to visit places like these,we went for a drive as we got a couple of festival holidays this week..

Though we started in the afternoon we however managed to catch the last bus to the hill as own vehicles are not allowed to the hill..So we parked our vehicle at the footsteps of the hill from where they have government buses to take us..The bus only waits for half an hour for the downhill return  journey,so we couldn't spend much time on the hill after darshan..After darshan at 4 pm,they served us prasadam in an adjoining temple room which has Sambar rice, pulihora and payasam..And that was a stomach full of meals for us..On the way back home we stopped at some tomato, beans and cabbage  fields and took pictures..The farmers are very friendly and sold us fresh veggies while telling us about the farming and marketing details..You'll also find beetroot, corn, ginger fields on the way.The trip was quite refreshing for a tired soul.

Here you go with the pictures..
