Gone with the wind - Margaret Mitchell (చివరకు మిగిలింది? )

Gone with the wind...To write about it or not !!!!!!! At this moment,my state of mind is just like Levin's (Anna Karenina,) who often fears that words may take away the beauty of the nature...All the beautiful feelings,I experienced while reading it are, that much precious...I got the translated version from HBT named "Chivaraku migilindhi"...

Copy right A Homemaker's Utopia

The book,a pulitzer winning novel....The story's backdrop is American civil war...The main character is Scarlett O'hara, lives in Tara in rural Georgia..She is having two ambitions,One is her love Ashley and other is her land Tara (usually it is in their blood of Irish women ( As her father is Irish)...Ashley is a dreamer who don't live in original world but have very good moral values and a very respectable person...He marries his cousin Menanie but Scarlett never gives up her love....She constantly waiting for the opportunity to win over Ashley...meanwhile Rhett Butler a pragmatist falls in love with Scatlett and he tries to win her heart from Ashley...American civil war was narrated splendidly..the consequences of the war leads to drastic changes in the lives of Scarlett,Ashley and Rhett...In the story there are many colours like love, war, passion, diplomacy and faith and what not....It is a perfection in writing....

One speciality in this novel is,the Scarlett's character....It is not a usual/routine one which we see often in most of the novels ..She is  manipulative, selfish, bold, beautiful and as strong as a man in will....She is more like a hero in the story..Rhett Butler is a similar kind of person as Scarlett...His characterization is wonderful...Even though both the roles (Scarlett and Rhett)  portraited with so many negative traits, they have a very good and extrordinary positive attributes....The ending of the book where Rhett reveals his mind to Scatlett and says good bye is the best part of the book...My eyes turned wet...really..

I read the book in translated version but after reading it I was unable to stop myself reading it in English,I read few important parts in english,I'm sure they were presented more lively than in the translated version...So guys read it in English only if you want to grab 100 % sweetness of the book...but if you are reading it for the first time  like me, no matter,it seems wonderful...

Here are few lines from the book...Rhett  speaks about his beloved daughter Bonnie in his last conversation with Scarlett...

But Then there was Bonnie and I saw that everything wasn't over ,after all.I liked to think that Bonnie was you,a little girl again, before the war and poverty had done things to you.She was so like you.so willful,so brave and gay and full of high spirits, and I could pet her and spoil her-just as I wanted to pet you.But she wasn't like you-she loved me.It was a blessing that I could take the love you didn't want and give it to her. When she went, she took everything.

Gone with the wind... truly one of the best.. not that we are here to say how good it is as it has already proved...But the feeling it gives to every reader even after it has been written in 1936 is awesome..we should have the highest regard for such nice books

I started this book and read quite a way long...I think I stopped around 475th page...couldn't make it after that..I felt boring at some parts...its just war and the long gowns the girls wear is what I felt :( I enjoyed the slang of the African Americans back then..may be I should get to the end before I get old...:)

@ Found in Folsom,
Don't miss the book..The story turns more and more interesting after war...The Scarlett's and Rhett's personalities and their life challenges will not allow us to leave the book after that...:-)
