Working on another crucial article, so not reading any other books in particular except poetry. And I need to complete one more article by the year end. Then I'll be free to read whatever I want. December is already here. Winter days calls for 'slow and steady' mood in my otherwise constantly 'on the go' daily routine.
Since my childhood I'm always obsessed with the ways of countryside, especially English countryside. Ahh you need to blame Austen for that. :) I loved the long frocks of women, their bookshelves, long walks, vintage ways, In fact I love everything about it. Recently watched few documentaries of Tasha Tudor. I kinda obsessed with her way of life. After that skimmed through couple of her children books too. What is life ? What is it all about ?
For some people perhaps it will take their whole life time to find answers to these questions. For some, sadly (or blissfully ?? ) they might go to their graves without even knowing such questions and answers do exist in the first place. But very few people like Tasha know what life is all about from the beginning. They wouldn't waste a single moment because of that. They simply live it. Here I'm sharing few of her quotes.
“Life isn't long enough to do all you could accomplish. And what a privilege even to be alive. In spite of all the pollutions and horrors, how beautiful this world is. Supposing you only saw the stars once every year. Think what you would think. The wonder of it!”
“I enjoy doing housework, ironing, washing, cooking, dishwashing. Whenever I get one of those questionaires and they ask what is your profession, I always put down housewife. It's an admirable profession, why apologize for it. You aren't stupid because you're a housewife. When you're stirring the jam you can read Shakespeare.”
“Why do women want to dress like men when they’re fortunate enough to be women? Why lose femininity, which is one of our greatest charms? We get more accomplished by being charming than we would be flaunting around in pants and smoking. I’m very fond of men. I think they are wonderful creatures. I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one. When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error…”
“I enjoy solitude. It's probably selfish, but why bother about it. Life is much too important, as Oscar Wilde said, to be taken seriously. I feel so sorry for those mothers who are devastated by loneliness when their children fly the coop and don't want to live at home anymore. They feel lost, but look what exciting things can be done.

What is aging ?
When you start to value your time more and more.
When you stop investing in things and situations that won't help you become a better person.
When you start realizing the opinions of others are irrelevant.
When you give more importance to doing things you love than doing things you are forced to do.
When you learn to forgive and forget.
When you realize you are always the only person you are competing with.
When you stop planning for future and start living one day at a time.
When you talk less and listen more.
When you understand you need to love yourself more to be able to love others.
When you realize peace is more important than anything.
When you realize life is too short to take anything seriously.
When you understand 'now' is all that you have.
